Horse racing has a long tradition in Merano.
The horse race was inaugurated by the horsemanship of the horses on Easter Monday, which begins in the morning with a parade on the streets of the town centre and is accompanied by a wide-ranging parallel programme. Another attraction for riding enthusiasts is the Grand Prix of Merano, an international steeplechase, which is held every year on the last Sunday of September at the Maia Racecourse.
The international street art festival enlivens the streets of the historic centre of Merano:

Merano's Grape Festival is an event rich in traditions, celebrated to give thanks for the harvest. The most awaited time every year is the great parade of musical bands and decorated floats around the town centre.
